There’s nothing more frustrating than knowing your business can reach and impact more people, but not being able to communicate that value effectively or confidently.

Dr. Tameka Payton and her team at Psychometric Solutions, a certified small women and minority-owned business enterprise that provides culturally-sensitive assessments, social program evaluations, and research services, felt the gap between their brand and the message they were trying to convey to their audience. 

While their mission and values were strong, the disconnect between their branding and messaging created a break in the cohesion of their marketing efforts. This made it difficult to communicate their diverse and inclusive personality within a niche, professional industry. 

Dr. Payton knew their message needed to align more closely with their brand to authentically express the company’s core values and expand their reach.

02. The Problem/Challenge

When Dr. Payton connected with Oh Yes, she was underwhelmed with the lack of clarity she felt in how to communicate their value as a business across their digital platforms. 

Like most businesses, she tackled branding first with a designer, who provided light messaging insight, but missed a cohesive summary that tied everything together (design, strategy, messaging, application). 

Additionally, there was a verbiage and process disconnect from person to person, which made the experience difficult to replicate every time. 

They desperately wanted a uniform understanding and unified feeling as a team.

With the eager excitement of the Psychometric Solutions leadership team and the expert support of Oh Yes Communications, we worked together to unveil a cohesive brand strategy that set them on a clear path to success, opening new possibilities for growth and impact.

Building on the initial excitement, the Oh Yes team stepped in with a multi-faceted approach to help clarify and elevate the Psychometric Solutions brand across all marketing touchpoints:

With this value at the forefront, we immediately pinpointed the need for a Messaging Workshop to develop a strategy for Psychometric Solutions.
Dr. Payton and her team opted for our signature Clarity in Your Message workshop paired with a Brand Expansion to refine and complete the branding work they had done with a previous designer.

The workshop took place overlooking the breathtaking Baltimore City skyline – a fitting backdrop for a day centered on redefining vision and alignment. Together, the Oh Yes Team and the Psychometrics Solution Team spent a full-day immersed in their messaging workshop, with a brief lunch break at a local deli.

The feeling at the end of this long day? Electrifying, reenergized, and inspired to share their message from the roof tops!

Following the messaging workshop, our designer, knowing that the Psychometrics Solution team wanted to keep their current branding as it was a sizeable investment that included signage and printed collateral, provided “Brand Expansion” services that included:

  • Font refreshing
  • Pattern development
  • Color palette expansion
  • Submark development, and Layout and formatting adjustments to their primary logo

With all these additions to their branding, they now had a brand that provided the flexibility needed to grow with them in their various efforts moving forward.

The Psychometrics Solution team had an amazing opportunity after being awarded a grant, to place digital and print ads in an industry-specific publication.

Knowing this prior to starting our work together, one of their additional deliverable “asks” was to help create a variety of 1-pagers and advertisements that they could submit prior to the deadline.

This request allowed the Oh Yes team to take their messaging and branding and bring it to life in fun and creative ways. The final collateral presented an infusion of graphic design, copywriting and creative direction that highlighted the diverse talent and skills that Psychometrics Solutions brings to the table.

Branded photography is an often overlooked component of tying great branding and messaging together. 

Whenever possible, we steer clients away from stock photography as it is easily spotted and diminishes the impact we know is possible. Thus, this led us to booking a half-day shoot with Psychometrics Solutions. 

With team members as vibrant and diverse as the data they mine, the energy of the final gallery had to match this amazing team. 

Our photo and video shoots are red carpet experiences that include the pre-shoot, day-of and post-production coordination and management from securing an on-brand location for the shoot, coordinating booking, and developing a day-of “Run of Show” itinerary that included direction for:

  • Outfits
  • Props
  • Shot List and more!
